Attend a live reading and conversation with Hamilton Reads author Anuja Varghese about their book Chrysalis. Artist and writer Sonali Menezes interviews Anuja. The evening includes a traditional Bharatanatyam dance performance by Sushmitha Parthasarathy who has danced in India and across Canada.
Anuja Varghese is a writer and editor whose work has appeared in Hobart, the Malahat Review, the Fiddlehead, Plenitude Magazine and others. She lives in Hamilton. Chrysalis is her first book and won the 2023 Dayne Ogilvie Prize for LGBT literature and the Governor General's Award for English-language fiction at the 2023 Governor General's Awards.
Sonali Menezes is a Hamilton-based multidisciplinary artist and writer. Sonali makes art as a way to find meaning under the weight of capitalism and the unending anxiety of the climate crisis. Her zines live in personal and public zine libraries worldwide. She is currently working on the manuscript for her first book which is an expanded version of her popular zine Depression Cooking.
