The Hamilton Street Railway's Fare Assist program provides eligible Hamilton residents with a 30 percent discount on single-ride PRESTO fares. To qualify, applicants must reside in Hamilton and have a household income at or below the Statistics Canada Low Income Measure (LIM) threshold or receive Ontario Works (OW) or ODSP. The program applies to all household members and offers a pay-as-you-go format for loading funds onto a PRESTO card. Apply online at the City of Hamilton.
Opened in May 1908, Barton Branch was first in the Hamilton Public Library system. The Branch occupied several permanent and temporary locations over the next 50 years, before it moved to its present location in November 1963. Barton Branch was most recently renovated in 2011.
