From ELIZA to ChatGPT and beyond: a brief history of generative artificial intelligence.
Learn about the recent history, current applications and possible futures of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). From the early beginnings of conversational AI in the 1960s to the onrush of ChatGPT and other AIs of the present day, we'll explore how we got here and where we might be going. Presented by John Fink who is the Digital Scholarship Librarian at McMaster University's Sherman Centre. John’s talents lie in complex and innovative systems administration, project management and hardware infrastructure. He also has an interest in the maker/hacker element in digital scholarship.

A newly built, 12,000-square-foot Valley Park Branch opened May 5, 2022. Now four-times the size of its 30-year-old predecessor, it features a Makerspace, an interior courtyard, three quiet study rooms and two 1,500 square-foot rooms for library programming.
