Since 1972 the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre, has been providing the Indigenous community with a place to gather, access service and participate in cultural teachings and practices. The Friendship Centre provides wrap-around services in a culturally safe environment to help rebuild trust and provide a sense of belonging.
Taking its name from the historic Red Hill Creek area, the Red Hill Branch opened in February 1969. The Branch moved to its current location in the plaza in 1983. To meet the demands of the growing community, it was renovated in 2000.
